Our Advocacy Focus
YASAV advocates for equitable treatment of all Veterans, regardless of discharge status. We focus on ensuring Veterans are met with informed review, accurate consideration of their service, and fair access to benefits and resources.
Our advocacy centers on:
Equity in VA benefits access, regardless of discharge characterization
Fair and informed review of service records and mitigating circumstances
Greater transparency in VA disability and discharge review processes
Reduction of stigma associated with less-than-honorable discharges
Recognition of service-related context and systemic barriers
Too many Veterans encounter barriers not because of ineligibility, but due to incomplete records, lack of guidance, or misunderstanding of review standards. These gaps often result in Veterans being overlooked or misjudged within complex systems.
YASAV exists to address these gaps by advocating for clarity, fairness, and informed decision-making.
YASAV engages with Veterans, families, and community partners to raise awareness, share knowledge, and promote informed advocacy. Through education, outreach, and collaboration, we work to ensure Veterans are supported with dignity and respect.
From Advocacy to Action
Advocacy alone is not enough. YASAV translates advocacy into action through structured preparation and readiness-based support.
Our programs are designed to help Veterans engage review systems with clarity, documentation integrity, and confidence. Advocacy informs our work, but preparation is what drives outcomes.
